Badge identification
Hi...
Im interested in cap badges, particularly those of Oxfordshire outfits. Someone on a metal detecting forum dug up an Oxfordshire badge which I cant identify. Any help would be much appreciated. Ive checked with the "Soldiers of Oxfordshire" museum in Woodstock, but no joy. thanks in anticipation Steve B |

The badge top left? A pre circa 1908 Oxfordshire Light Infantry helmet plate centre missing its central device?

Bottom right (portcullis): HM Customs & Excise. Looks collar badge size, but I may be wrong about that. Phil2M is your man for a full ID on this one.

I had them down as Customs & Excise collars but was told by a more experienced member that they are worn by staff at Westminster.
Customs & Excise have a similar badge, with a scroll, that was worn on a cap.

Not sure, to be honest. These badges are a little mysterious.

What is the badge in question re. post no. 1?
I took it to be top left, "Oxfordshire" without the central bugle? |

Agreed. That’s how I read it too (now ).

But the portcullis is proving interesting.

I think the portcullis might be worn at the Houses of Parliament, since that is also on the seats, letterhead, etc. It might also be worn by security staff at the various departments.

Hi David, the same member also suggested Houses of Parliament to me.
