A mystery Jeep
This image is taken from John Farley's excellent book "The standardised war-time Jeep". It poses many questions. Two Sikh soldiers (driver and radio operator) and British officer wearing black beret and possibly black rank badges and puttees (and unidentifiable titles on shoulder straps). The Jeep's number on the bonnet is definitely Indian Army style, the unit serial 60 indicated the senior Inf Bn in an Armd Div. So far so good. But on the windshield - why TUES and what is the formation sign? The CMP Ford or Chevrolet truck in the background bears the unit serial 56 (or 156) and why FRI on the bumper? All suggestions welcome. Is the building in the background Indian? or possibly Italian? Mike

Excellent. I think you are correct - Tenth Army. I have never before seen an image of that sign being used. We need an expert in Iraqi architecture to identify the building (and find an ORBAT of Tenth Army).
