Default 32nd Battalion

Who made the original 32nd Battalion "Buffalo Head" beret badges? Were they maker marked? Thank you.

I don't know who made them, maybe Metal-Art in Pretoria, but SA badges weren't maker-marked.
Cheers,
Alex

The lowest bidder got the job. SA badges were not always made by the same manufacturer when reordered. The front of your badge looks okay. Regards Andrew

Hello Andrew,
When was the badge actually first worn, did Breytenbach's Bravo Group wear it or do they postdate that period?
Regards Frank

Hi Frank, the badge was approved in 1977. The first batch that was delivered were in brass, and were rejected by Breytenbach. The second batch was in chrome. If he had the approvals done before or after the badges were issued, I can't say. He was unorthodox, but a great leader. Regards Andrew
