SAS Wing
Everyone, I have some thoughts and questions about this wing.
Am I correct to assume that this is a mid to late war SAS wing? The wear appears to be legit, or is it artificially aged? Regards, Grant |

Hi Grant.
Not WW2. Anywhere from 70's to 90's. Del. |

HamandJam and Airtrooper, thanks for the replies. I thought that late war wings started the upturn of the wings? I was told that this wing was a mid to late war wing and it looks very close to the one that started this thread. I am still learning about these wings, so forgive my ignorance. Regards, Grant

Hi Grant,
The 1944 pattern wing is just slightly modestly upswept. The other image you show is also clear post war. JB Quote:

As already posted, two 1970-90's wings, one probably aged.

I particularly like this image - since it is an illustration of SAS wings that features in a German Intelligence manual (Das Britische Kriegsheer) dated February 1944. The drawing must have been made from a pair of wings taken from the owner on his capture or death. Mike

The auction just ended and the wings brought 310 pounds. This seems high for a pair of 1970s 80s wings doesn't it?

A case of a bidder who knows nothing and a seller describing them as WW2. They are definitely artificially aged too. Incredible considering I put two very nice original wings on eBay this week and the late War one goes for £77 and the Malayan goes for £128. 222730427699 322898749268 I guess people would rather buy shite Jack |

I was also very surprised to see the price this auction got to. They were obviously post-war, but then not everyone does their homework before bidding.
Jack I was surprised your late war version sold so low. I know it had a couple issues with it's condition, but still it should have gone for more in my opinion. I just wish an early WWII wing would come up, I'm still watching for one of those. |
