Billy,
Some nice finds, I would be tempted to leave the Irish Guards badge as it is, if you tried to replace the missing enamel and the colour was not identical it would not look right. I think the badge looks pretty good as it is. Peter

Hi Mark, the Scouts badge wasn't as bad as have seen them go for because I had a lot of badges from the same bloke so I had a really good discount! (Have recently had some badges sold as Good but really Not! being good so!) seek reassurance!
Peter will do as you say, cleaned this up with soap and water helped a lot! Thanks very much to you both, cheers billy |

I believe the Irish Guards badge is an Officers one.

In addition to removing "Auxiliaries" from the scroll the section between the tail and scroll stating "Police" has been removed entirely. Very odd. Graham

RAF Police Aux cap badge.
Hi Billy, The removal of the Auxiliary words from the scroll of the RAF Police Auxiliaries reminds me of the the CMP cap badge which was worn by the early Intelligence Corp who removed the Military Police words from the scroll. Harry

This is the star worn by officers in field caps in tented camp and in mess dress 1900-1914. this star is a re-purposed 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards Officer's collar badge. John |

Thanks everyone Andy the Irish Guards isn't makers marked, but great to find it as an Officer's variant, many thanks for pointing these facts out! as to the R.A.F. "Police Auxiliaries" didn't pick up on the Police being missing just filled that bit in! But interesting about the Intelligence Service, though why?
I have been keeping a watch out for the Scout badge but always trumped on Ebay and then this was there, in my face though have to admit how these are made makes you wonder if they are real, lugs looked good and a lot of the badges came from the same bloke so was happy it was good? still had doubts though? Thanks again all the best billy |

Hello Billy, sorry for my late arrival at this party, I only just saw your PM.
You have a lovely 4th Irish Dragoon Guards Officers cap star, which as John correctly points out, was used by early Irish Guards Officers upon the formation of the regiment in 1900. I would put it back together and proudly display it ‘as used’. A superb cap star!
