Default Dambusters logbook

Here's the outcome of the Bateman 'Dambusters' logbook theft. So there is justice (and a God) after all.

Once he has done his time ( however long that might be with good behaviour etc ) they shouldn't release him until he says where the logbook is.

Peter,
that would infringe on his human rights. He would then get a big claim

I hope they are investigating him under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and freeze his assists to the valuation of the logbook (around £10,000) until he comes clean as to its whereabouts or who he sold it to.

Default Logbook

As he is a member of this forum, perhaps we should ask him ourselves. May not have too much computer access where he is at the moment though. Crimes like this really spoil it for other collectors and researchers not to mention the distress caused to the family.

If he's a member of this forum then I don't believe that he should be. That said such matters are for the owner and no one else. I hope he is aware of the conviction of this man.

Dave.

Shame on anyone who takes advantage of the kindness of others. If you are loaned family documents it represents a deep act of trust and is a huge privilege. There are individuals and institutions who betray that trust. May they get their just deserts.

I read about this the other day. This is very sad that family must have suffered so much pain and anxiety and worry. We can feel for them as human beings but we cant understand how many sleepless nights this has caused them and how they worried and how it took over their lives. Awful
This gentleman might not have set out to cause this much pain but he should make his peace for the families sake and ultimately in time his own
So sad for all those involved

He was very helpful but I am quite happy to see him get his just deserves! Serves the b***** right.
Cheers,
Alex

He hasn't been active on the forum since 2014 according to his profile page : http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ber.php?u=1025

edit: If the accusation in his thread is true will SAS1 go quiet for two years now?

That was, certainly the name, that has been suggested is indeed, actually Alex Bateman, to me yesterday by two forum members.
