Recent Cloth Additions
Here are some recent to several months old additions to the collection. Quite pleased so far. The arm of service stripes do not pop up here in the U.S. very often so was happy to find these. Mixture of Armored. REME, Catering, and the single Red am unsure if MP or Infantry. Shoulder slips and BEF badge.
The White/Red shoulder titles are very recent. These all came together as a group so there is a possibility that the Devons go with the 50th Northumberland formation badge. All have seen some use but still quite presentable. The Cornwall title looked as though it was trimmed but the stitching from where it was sewn to jacket follow the shape of the badge so if trimmed it was down prior to sewing down on uniform. Can someone confirm that the patch adjacent to the 50th Division is the 72nd Independant Infantry Bde?

Thanks for the link, while I cannot with full certainty say the 72nd is bad or good. it has been worn and sewn down and removed. Again no guarantee of originality but sure looks good. Or is the something inherent in this badge design that says all are suspect?

I'm confused. Your scan of the 1st AGRA purports to be a fake. In what way? I'm posting an image of an authentic patch that a friend of mine obligingly ripped off his denim jacket (along with a BAOR patch) and gave to me . He was serving with the Royal Malta Artillery in Germany at the time (1966). The ravages of time, work and weather added their effect to the state of the patch, especially the red fading into a sort of pink. My question again is, in what way does your image differ from my patch, which latter is 100% genuine? How does one tell a fake? Thanks GTB |

Are you referring to the white surround?

And the printed image.

Any additional opinions or thoughts on my 72nd Independant Infantry Bde patch? It sure looks and feels good.

After seeing the large image, it looks good. Is it a nice thick material?
I am always wary of printed badges as there are some people who do sew them to bits of cloth to sell them, of cut them off later to be sold as once worn. I have not yet seen the latest re-enactors printed version. Marc |

Similar in thickness to most printed patches from the era, maybe slightly thinner. Thanks for the input
