Default Canadian Afghanistan patches

Just a heads up, although it is 05:07 and I am running on less than 2 hours sleep. I wanted to bring to the forums attention and open for discussion, the numerous badges that have just appeared on our favorite online action site.

As a heads up, I am very very wary of these ones lads. I am off to work but I know BillA, Clive and Ed Storey will speak out about at least a few of these offerings.

link to one. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/CANADIAN-ARMY...1#ht_777wt_952

NOW further to this, I read the description and have purchased many items from this seller. I do not believe they are deliberately attempting to deceive anyone. I have contacted them on this matter.

Thanks Cliff. It is difficult to say with these. The problem, which was predicted months ago, is that the patches can be run off at any time. With computerized embroidery the patches are easily re-run and copying them is also very easy. Compounding the problem is that they may have been purchased from the Boardwalk shops as souvenirs.

I compared the patches that are on offer with ones I have in my collection. I have about 6 in my accumulation that are also on sale. Comparing the embroidery on the ones that I have with those that are offered, the lettering is different. The Task Force Kandahar patch should have the central device of the Afghan flag stitched in mylar, while the one on offer is plain thread. The Mission Transition patch is embroidered on a plain tan material, while my example is fully embroidered. The PPCLI FP COY patch appears to be embroidered in a different colour than the one I recently acquired, and again many details in construction are different. (The patch came from an exceptionally reliable source.)
Again, it is not possible to conclusively say that the patches are copies, but they do not match the examples that I have confidence are correct.

Straight up Bill, look at the reverse of these being offered. The stitching of the velcro is wrong. The tlav survivability patch is incorrect by way of the Canada flag and the maple leaf on the vehicle. More to follow when I get back home.
