Remedial Instructors/ Gymnasts & Recruit Instructors
Please can anyone provide background information on the following British Army badges? Who were eligible, when were the roles introduced etc.
An embroidered badge introduced 1990 for qualified Remedial Instructors/ Gymnasts (APTC only?). In 1993 this was changed to a metal badge. Was this role subsequently changed but the badge retained for Regimental instructors? A badge to be given to successful students attending Recruit Instructors Courses. The proposed badge design was ‘RT’. Many thanks, Stephen.

Qualified Remedial Instructors
Stephen, I can't help with the background but is this the cloth badge? Probably to be worn on a tracksuit top? Note that this is a Joint Service qualification and possibly for instructors at the Headley Court Rehabilitation Centre.

Recruit Instructor
This badge for the Recruit Instructor? "RI" in wreath white on khaki 1960 pattern?

Remedial Instructors/Gymnasts & REcruit Instructors
Tim,
The cloth badge is of the same design as the enamel badge worn by staff at the two Service rehabilitation centres. The 'RI' badge is like that shown in Edwards & Langley, but the first design was supposedly 'RT' [Recruit Trainer?] Hopefully someone else can illuminate us. Thanks again, Stephen.

Stephen,
I don't see the logic in awarding an "RT" for "Recruit Trainer" badge to personnel attending a Recruit Instructors course. "Trainer" is not a common term in Army parlance so perhaps "RT" was an error or typo? Here is the JSP768 entry for Recruit Instructor with NSN 8455-99-967-8365. Tim

Tim,
Thanks for replies. I agree with you but was confused (as usual!) Stephen.

Thanks Marc,
As the 'RI' badge appears to be unusual/ scarce, was it only in use for a limited period, if so do you know when? I take it the brooch and Tim's cloth badge are worn at Hedley Court, and like centres, but are not general APTC items. Stephen.

Both the RI badges were issued during 2000.
The Remedial badge was requested by and approved for the RAMC. Marc
