Hi Steve, the top piece in the photo appears to be a ribbon from a safe driving award medallion. The badge below represents the British 4th infantry division (and should be shown turned 90 degrees to the right, but that may just be the way the photo loaded).

I think the term TRF - Tactical Recognition Flash - is a comparatively modern term. Back then they would have been called Formation Signs.

Thanks v much, the driving medallion ribbon was a mystery. It was tucked inside my grandfathers soldiers payback with the 4 InfDiv trf. He,was RAOC then REME so makes sense
