Hi Folks!
Thanks for ideas (answers?). It looks like something is missing below the Kangaroo/Swords. Seems to be somewhat unbalanced. Is it JUST Army, or could there be something below it, designating some unit / school etc? Cheers! |

A long time ago a button with this design was offered on e-bay as General Service (withdrawn).

Divisional Plaque
More than likely this is a plaque that was presented to a member of the first divisional headquarters

Back in the 1960's a necktie was produced with this emblem on it, from memory the background was red for the Australian Regular Army, blue for the reserve, and I assume there might have been a green one for the CMF (Territorials). I wish they were still available.

Just a thought.
The Australian Defence Liaison Group wore shoulder patches with a Roo on them in Singapore around the 1960-70 era. The attached shoulder patch would have been right shoulder. I assume left and right shoulders had opposing patches so it is possible the left shoulder would go very close to being your plaque. Regards Dennis |

Thanks Dennis (and others!).
I thought it would have been straight forward, but apperently, not so. Would there ever have been an Australian Defence Liaison Group in Europe? It came froma maritime flea market in Germany. I remember the Germans had a hospital ship in Vietnam 1966/71, the HELGOLAND. Could there be a connection? Who knows how it ended up where I found it! Last edited by HOBO; 05-02-18 at 01:44 PM. |

It is the generic Australian Army plaque, an engraved presentation plate is usually attached below the badge. Still used today. http://www.christies.net.au/list.mib...ge=20&sortby=1

Thanks guys!
I would tend to agree with Tuckerf. There for sure is enough space for a plate under the swords / Roo! Nothing special...straight forward! |
