RAF black button
I believe these were worn on overalls by mechanics and fitters, 1918 onwards.

I stand corrected, but I was under the impression these were worn by staff at the Royal Aircraft Factories and was not Royal Air Force.

The name Royal Aircraft Factory was used from 1912 until 1918 only.
This button is also known to collectors as civilian drivers RAF 1918-c.1950. I anyone able to supply proof of either name? These women seem to have metal buttons: https://www.agefotostock.com/age/en/...d/MEV-10825329 (scroll down to enjoy more pictures) And we have also got the WRAF to consider: https://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/researc...1918-1920.aspx Last edited by btns; 13-06-20 at 08:46 AM.
