RTR fantasy badges?

Hello,
I believe the following RTR badges to be fantasy. Conformation please.
Badge 1 is white cotton, badge 2 is bullion, both badges are just slightly bigger than the correct RTR bullion badge.

Hi, Peter Payne had them made in the Indian sub-continent. There is a bullion version as well. They can be identified by being slightly thicker than originals, hope this helps, Mike

Sorry, they're rough measurements, I'm doing this all by phone, they're just slightly bigger than a standard RTR QC metal badge, so defiantly a cap badge of sorts.
Excuse my ignorance, but who is Peter Payne, ive heard of him? And he had them made in India, why?

Hi, Peter and Jim MacDonald wrote several books on tank insignia. Peter was just Peter and loved to have an example of everything or would have a few made for friends, That included everything from cloth cap and arm badges to WW1 paper propaganda badges. Unfortunately a lot of these are now circulating as genuine items. It's a shame that something done with the best of intentions is now causing a lot of problems, hope this helps Mike

What are the badges copies of please? Beret badges or just fantasy items?

Hi, the bullion badge was used, the others are just fantasy. I never did find out why he had them made, maybe the Indian made them to show what he could do and continued to knock them out. Certainly there appears to be a lot of them about, and sadly neither Peter or Jim are with us to ask, hope that helps, Mike

Hi 3dg, I'm sorry I wasn't clearer. Both of yours are fantasy badges, I think the were meant to represent o/r's and nco's badges. Peter also had an all bullion badge made which was a copy of the one in use, hope this is clearer. Sorry to disappoint but the TC,RTC and RTR had very few badges and any new variant not been seen before in the last 100 years is more than likely a fantasy badge, best wishes Mike

Thanks (by the bullion badge being used you mean the silver bullion wreathed white scrolled badge worn on the officers dress Astrakhan beret of the 1960's-70's rather than the green wreathed badge shown here?)

Edit - question answered by the above post (I'm still looking for an officer's bullion badge as worn on the Astrakhan beret by the way).
