Default South Wales Borderers badge or sweetheart?

I bought this badge the other day. I’m not too sure if it was intended to be a sweetheart, or worn as a cap badge? It is properly enamelled and not painted.

Thanks in advance!

Mark.

It is a cap badge which has been 'dolled' up. I know my grandad did this sort of thing as part of a trade test so it was probably something like that, a student project. If it was a sweetheart brooch I would expect the slider to have been replaced with a brooch-pin. Cheers,
Alex
