Yes,
WWI Cape Auxilliary Horse Transport Corps. I believe made of Cape coloured drivers for the Army Service Corps. Quite a rare badge to find.

Thanks for the tip. I picked it up for a song. Now I just have to get it to run the SA Post Office gauntlet. Hopefully it makes it, and then it will find a good home in my collection. Regards Andrew

Andrew,
I know all too well the perils of the post.
I shall be back SA in Nov, and my son even sooner, in Oct. If you want, have the seller send it to my UK address and we'll bring it out for you; you can pick it up from our place in Cape Town.
Rob

Andrew (and others) -
Here's the deal:
Whislt I try to avoid the epithet "soutpiel" I confess I travel between UK and SA several times per year, and my kids do so too
- so if any forummer wants a badge carried from A to B, I'm more than happy to oblige.

Actually, now I have hit 60 I am also accused of being a suurstofdief.

Rob you certainly qualify for that title Until I went to the army I never knew what it meant....I eventually asked an irate Afrikaans corporal what it meant...after a brief explaination with a number of added expletives (which I will leave out), I was sent on my way to a tree far away to fetch a leaf. All those who served in the SADF know how that story goes!
