I am pleased to display here my collection of badges of The Scottish Regiments of South Africa

1°) An Other-Rank's glengarry badge and Forage Cap of The Kimberley Scots Rifle Volunteers 1891-1899



Die stamped white metal, brooch pin.

I don't believe these badges were actually ever made like this. I think the originals were all wreathed and some had the wreaths carefully removed which is why the edges on the 'wreath-less' badges are slightly rough.

Yes, I'm sure it was official. It was an old collector in Cape Town who pointed it out to me nearly 20 years ago.

A good example of a scarce badge, officers badges were cast without a wreath, I doubt if those rank and file ever were.
I was slightly puzzled by the title of your thread, Scottish regiments "in" South Africa, given the badge in question, certainly not British Army, their garrison was withdrawn from the Union in 1914.
