Cape Corps and HMSAS Good Hope
Hello All
While arranging some badges for short-term mounting, I realised that the small SACC badge below was not a normal SACC collar/cap badge but something related to HMSAS Good Hope, SA's first frigate (christened HMS Loch Boisdale). The badge has what look like twin wires for each fitting point, rather than loop lugs, so might have been for something other than use on a uniform, although they could have been long, thin lugs flattened and trimmed. The badge is of a good quality, not something that would have been made up in a workshop. I will try to post pictures of the back at the weekend. Can anyone tell me more about the badge and how it might have been worn or used? The style is clearly the same as the SACC badges but the ship was obviously not not SACC. Hi Craig,
Nice collection of SACC. I have not seen the Good Hope badge before but it is obviously based on a WWII CC collar. This is also the same pattern used post WWII by the CC Auxilliary Service. These had blank scrolls, so maybe whoever made them also made your badge. Are you able to post a picture of the reverse please? Steven Last edited by Milmed; 26-08-15 at 04:44 AM. |
