Hiya guys

Sorry about the delay guys, No I never got the badge, sadly I didn't go high enough I actually bid a teeny weeny bit lower than £102.99, but I believe the other bidder was in the region of £150, so it was never gonna be in my price range.

CftD I'd like to thank you, for then guidance on it's rarerity, and the others for the info on the badge, as that's what made me go that high, ......... Obviously, I need to get out and about more, to see the rarerity of these badges, hence the questions I asked.

An even bigger "Thank you" to Jerry, for putting it my way, I saw it right at the start, but thought it a strange badge (Yellow Centred) I was led to believe that "Red n Blue centres were the official Corps issues for best dress to officers, oh well !!
(For those unaware, The Corps TRF is BLUE over YELLOW)

Still !!! i'll be able to buy "2" rounds of teas n coffees on Sunday now !!! LOL

This aint for the faint hearted though, ....... is it ??
(CftD !! you must have been giggling when i said "it's at £49")
Also David, with my luck, I think we'll see another very soon.

I've learnt a great deal so far, so many thanks to ; Rob, Thomas, Mike, David, Lee, Postwarden, and of course Jerry.

I'm not unhappy with the result at the moment, but in years to come I know i will be !!!! LOL

Cheers for the help n guidance everyone
Ken (The Fatboy)

PS. Who knows, one might even fall of the back of my lorry ???

Ken - I'm truly sorry that you didn't get it as I sense that you would have been a very deserving owner of it. Such is life. Regards. David

In my opinion the yellow center probably was originally red, but possibly sun bleached to yellow. Red pigment is generally speaking more prone to deteriorating under sunlight than most other colours.
I very much doubt that the yellow center is in any way related to the Corps TRF colours. Heraldically the center behind a cypher is always red and the garter always blue. Compare as you state with RASC officers (silver/)gilt and enamel badges. Besides, the RASC colours used to be blue/yellow/white, so where would that leave the white?
All in all a nice badge, one of the very few missing from my (R)ASC collection, though you outbid my by quite a margin.

Rgds,
Thomas.

Also wouldn't there have been many more RASC Officers during the war years than in the period 1946-1952 to wear badges?
I do realise you didn't, but you did gave me an opportunity to elaborate on the pioneering role of Airborne beret badge choices.
There were many more WWII RASC officers indeed, but not many of them wore a beret, let alone with a bullion badge.

Thomas.

Well It's now time to move onwards and up.

I'll continue to look for another Bullion Badge, and other items of my Corps past and present, and as CftD has said "Such is Life".

I also would like to say "Well done" to the owner of the RASC Bullion Badge, we all of us make bids on ebay and other auctions everywhere, some we win, and some we lose, and that's how we should leave it.

Well Done m***n (So long as you're a collector)
