Default RCAF AG wing

Can I get your opinion on this RCAF AG wing, it has a backing on it and is slightly padded, an original is on the left.

Mike

The one on the right looks like a repro. The one on the left looks OK.

Do you mean it is a reproduction?

If the badge has that black backing and the very white wings is that indication of a repro?

Default PADDING MATERIAL.

Here is a "N" wing very much alike the AG 's originally discussed. Padding is visible .Thoughts welcome...

Dominique

On the left no issue. On the right not so hot on the backing. Could be a repro.

I agree that the padded example on the right is suspect and probably a modern replica. I don't like the padding or the backing material. I just don't think patches in this style are period examples.

Default one more?

Thank you for your inputs Gentlemen.
Shall I also consider this one as a modern copy?
Thank you.

Yes Dom, I'd say another replica.
Attached are samples of padding on some of my RCAF aircrew single wings from WWII. I pulled the backing apart when applicable and snapped some shots. In my opinion, I would say that all of these examples are period pieces. I think tailors used whatever they had available but hair like material seems to be quite common. Note also the coloured fabric and course felt that were used. This is by no means a complete sample of what is out there of course.

Hope this helps.

Your pictures are worth a thousand words.
Thank you so very much for your time & patience.
Best regards,
Dominique
PS: So , if I don't get myself wrong this set of padded pilots wings could be considered as a period piece?
