I picked up this collection last weekend I was hoping someone could give me any information about the royal signals cap badge please, I have posted on Ww2talk forum and receive some great information about the patches.

The cap badge was introduced upon the formation of the Corps in 1920 and was worn until circa 1947 when it was replaced by a 2 part design without the circlet.

That's because it was not worn with a backing. It's possible the backing is for something else.

It was a common but unofficial practice to wear badges backed in Corps or regimental colours on the General Service Cap issued towards the end of WW2 and worn for some years afterwards.
The badges shown suggest a late war period so I'd suggest that the badge backing is related to the badge. Jon |

Am I correct in believing that the Sphinx badge is for the 56th Infantry Brigade? If so, would you consider parting with one of the left facing ones? (For appropriate compensation, of course...)

Hi Dob the sphinx patches are getting a lot of attention and many people are asking me to sell them i think they are quite rare. I need to do more research about them, thanks for ask. I will let you know
