Default does anyone recognise this badge?

hi all
found this badge amongst some unfinished and scrap badges i picked up many years ago? all the other items are identifiable and all australian .
does anyone recognise this badge?
is it australian?

Default The N.S.W. Irish Rifles

Hi BC,
The shamrock leaf looks very similar in design to the pictures in both Jeff Cossum's (picture 1 and 2) and Rick Grebert's (picture 3 and 4) books on Australian military badges.

it does look like it may belong within the australian irish rgts.
i wonder if the 8th irish wore a collar badge?

thanks for the link
however I have seen this before and not convinced.
look at the hex single lug attached to the collars.
to me, this is British not Australian. I also think this style lug started to be used from ww1 therefore probably an Irish guards collar.
happy to be corrected on these points

The shamrock badge is not of a pattern worn by any of the British Army Irish regiments. It does look like the top half of the shamrock/8 shoulder title in the link. But that single hex lug ?
