Unknown Coldstream Guards bolted, numbered in gilt for ID
Hello
Picked this up today, appears very old thought may be early Victorian or possibly Georgian? Size is 1.3" by 1.3" Can any Coldstream Guards collectors possibly Identify it ? Thanks everyone Cheers Steve |

Its the standard order of the garter emblem so may not necessarily be Coldstream Guards. There is no motto on the circlet which you would normally see, not sure if this is significant.

It’s way too crude to be Coldstream Guards, and I agree it
seems to be just a generic representation of a Garter Star (Star of the Order of the Garter) in poor quality base metal. The Army didn’t use anything that couldn’t be highly polished and so I don’t think that it is military at all. Last edited by Toby Purcell; 24-07-23 at 09:59 AM. |

I agree with Toby, and is probably nothing to do with the Coldstream Guards.

I am also agree it is a relatively modern and crude creation. Most Georgian work of this nature is actually very fine indeed.
