Personally, I don't like the attached maker tablet. Doesn't look very well done at all. Could just be off my rocker of course, which is allowed when you are "getting on".... maybe they are ok. Rgds, David |

Hi David, the silver badge has S.G.and London hallmark for 1914/15 and are stamped not cast having dealt in jewellery for over 40 years I can read a hall mark and have seen most of the attempts at faking them. Thanks for your thoughts.Roger

Well at least the silver one seems to be a goodie then. Looks like you have lucked-in on that one. Well done. Even a "normal" one is quite a difficult one to get as its been faked to death. Rgds, David Last edited by wright241; 16-07-13 at 01:30 PM. Reason: Ambiguity removed |

Hi RMR
The hallmark looks good to me, but the GM badge looks the wrong colour. Maybe it's the flash? Mine are attached for reference - sorry about the blurred rear on the silver one, but note the lack of E-W lugs. Cheers, Neil |

Hi Neil,I had to tinker with the colour a bit as it was half in shadow but it's actually gilding metal the lugs are identical to yours and the plaque looks the same examining mine thru a glass it has the same raised dot to the right of the top of the L in eleventh and the same mark after the V at the bottom .Were the silver ones only made with a lug and strap?Roger

Hi Roger
The short answer is I don't know for sure! I did read once that there were only N-S lugs, but I recall that was an "expert" who also maintained there was never a bronze version badge issued. I can say with certainty this is incorrect. Sorry I can't be definitive! Cheers, Neil |

Here is the eBay guide. Found it, and I believe it has been discussed on the forum previously: http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/BORDER-REG...1638783/g.html Here is a picture of an OSD badge for example. http://freewebs.com/granatloch/spike44a.html Cheers |

Neil if that guide is correct then the silver badge is a wrong one perhaps this thread will receive more replies.Roger

Well for what it's worth (and i'm no expert with regard to either of these badges), I think that they both look like cracking examples which I would be more than happy to include in my collection. In other words, I think you have done very well with both of them.

Hi all. I'm surprised this one didn't get discussed in the run up to it's sale.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ww1-BORDER...vip=true&rt=nc I see that the plate isn't in the usual spot of the one's I've seen on here in the past that are stated as original. Simon. |

I thought the team would be all over this one. I take it then this tablet location is good. Anyone think the price was cheap or the tablet location kept the price down as it isn't like some other's I've seen on here.
