parachute regt ADEN 1960`S
As a collector of british war time cloth insignia this is only rivalled by my passion for original private photographs , as a change to showing pre 1946 photos of the paras i would like to share these few .
They are part of a lot that i think show service in Aden durring the 1960`s please contribute if you can offer more precise details. The first photo is the guy who the photos came from ( not sure but his name may be pte PHIPPS ? ) not sure of exact date he has the SLR but is still wearing the 37 patt webb gaiters and belt with polished brasses ,on his shoulders he has dark cloth slip on`s . |

This next image appears to show a convoy that has been ambushed or perhaps a land mine .

Hi NEMO. Perhaps this can shed a little more light on this subject. GO to the army units.

what i think is a great ` combat` type image , this photo is taken down the hill and to the right of the convoy photo the paras are looking very dirty an worn , nice mixture of webbfighting order with the ever popular 44 patt: metal water bottle and holders been used along with the newer 58 issue .
Several of the paras wear a dark DZ Flash some of the guys wear it on the left shoulder others on the right ? any comments welcome. Also please notice the UNIT SIGN vehicle tail gate an arab sailing boat or DHOW. Last edited by NEMO; 18-08-12 at 02:12 PM. |

3 PARA were operating in the Radfan in 1964; and 1 PARA was in Aden itself in 1967 and claim to be the last Army unit to leave the Colony on 29 Nov 67.
