As said: a Jewish 38th or 39th Bn RF cap badge: good, repro or indifferent? What's your opinion, gents?

There is a forum member who has a very nice genuine one of these - a very small feet version....... but I reckon his is a good one. I am sure he will let you know. I have seen loads of copies, so can't really help with the finer points...
Good luck - its a rare badge. David

Mine is on a slider & so are the others I've seen, there was a collar (bronze/bronzed) but this was slightly smaller than the cap badge, what does yours measure Loupie?

Cool 38th or 39th Bn RF

I have always been of the opinion that these were made with sliders, whether this is correct or not I will leave that to others to decide, there are always exceptions I know.

Mine has a slider and is sandcast, so at best a replacement, but as the units served in the Middle East there is a possibility it is a genuine replacement badge.

I have changed the title to reflect that they were Bns of the Royal Fusiliers and not the KRR.

Loupie.

I have an other ranks on a slider and an OSD on lugs, I believe both to be genuine....if not I paid quite a bit for a load of rubbish.

38th - 40th (Jewish) Btns OR's cap badge.jpg 38th - 40th (Jewish) Btns OSD badge.jpg

Apologies for them not being the greatest quality pictures, but I will try and replace them with clearer images.

From what I can see of your badge, the lugs appear to be in the same position as on mine, but from memory, the definition on the arms, particularly on the left, as you look at it, is somewhat different to mine.

Also the definition to the rear of yours is not as well defined as my example.

That is not to say that yours is wrong, mine well may be, but one thing is certain, it is certainly a far better example than many seen offered as genuine on auction sites.

Regards

Brian

Here is a bladed one for comparison. As several have suggested, I agree this is a scarce badge.
cheers
