Default 601 Sqdn RAF button

Has anyone seen an RAF squadron button before? If not, you have now!

601 Sqdn was formed in 1925, disbanded in 1945 and re-formed in 1946 as an Aux Air Force Sqdn, finally disbanded in 1957.

The button is slightly smaller than a large size tunic button, mounted design, Pitt & co backmark.

I'm sure it wasn't worn in uniform, probably mess dress or perhaps for a civvy blazer.

The only RAF mess buttons I've seen before have been the standard RAF pattern but with mounted design, this is the first squadron button I've come across.
