Thank you - I just looked at it through my jeweller's rouge and the title is too complex for a sand casting as it has varying thicknesses which would indicate separate layers which do not have file marks. Is this definitely a 18 Hussars title as I cant find one on Google to compare it with ?

Cheers Alf

Alf
its a 18th hussars shoulder title
they amalgamated with 13th hussars in 1922. so pre 1922
the issue s-titles had a solid bar running across the top and bottom of
the title. yours does not so may be a market or bazzar made copy from
india or egypt
hope this helps Julian

Alf
could have been made in your neck of the woods
Ray Westlakes book on shoulder titles has 18th hussars titles
as numbers 174 and officers pattern 175
