It was me who sent the seller the details of the badge, which were very well received and resulted in the listing being pulled and another new member by the looks of things! (welcome)..

I have said this in the past, but more than happy to repeat it!

Instead of slating Ebay sellers on this Forum whilst at the same time Rushing to the Defence of Dubious Dealers and the Auction Houses.... the more Learned Members could help by being more proactive in informing sellers of incorrect listings on Ebay.. I've done it myself plenty of times and more often than not the information has been well received!

Andy

I've tried that sometime's Andy and been told in a round about way "to go fourth and multiply".

I think this being opened ended up good all round.

Default RNAS badge

Thanks Simon - to clarify the badge were from a deceased persons estate(long standing RFC collector I believe). The dealer , not involved, was purely shown the badge by my chum to check it was ok and establish a price prior to listing.

My chum has 100% feedback on close to 4,000 sales.

Thanks for the welcome - hope to read lots of posts and learn more from you guys

Bob

I think with a 4000 + feedback then I do believe it was an innocent mistake. Tell him to join the gang on here and I'm sure the team would anytime give an opinion on a badge if he isn't sure. In fact he might be better selling in the classifieds on here also and cut out the Ebay fee's etc.

I've started myself to swap or sell between the members, and it suits me better that the Ebay route.

And again, welcome.

Regards
Simon.

Default Genuine RNAS armoured car badge

I am a first time visitor to this site after looking at a reproduction RNAS collar badge on ebay. I still have what I am sure is a genuine badge given to me when I was 10 in 1957 with a small badge collection by my uncle. He retired from the Navy in 1952 . He was then employed as a Groundsman in HMS Drake at Devonport . I had the badges on a board in my bedroom for many years ( I squashed the pins to push it through the board !! ). I have attached pictures of the front and back and you will see several differences from the fake one on ebay .

And a welcome from Hertfordshire Keith.

Great badge and I suspect a good reference for those who have them and are not sure about them.

Regards

Brian

It's a badge I have always wanted as I had a relative who served in this unit in WW1 in Russia. Fascinating history and almost forgotten in the history of the great war. I've resigned myself that I will have to make do with a cheap copy for the time being - thankfully I didn't pay £300 for it! More like £3.

Good article about them!

John

Just looking at some of the photos on this. A bit hard to make out, but looks like they might be wearing this as a cap badge, whilst worn as a collar badge in their dress uniform. Anyone got a magnifying glass?

Hi Jon, I believe they all have to have lugs as they were collars and not cap badges. here's my recent purchase to show you.
