As a Newbie to this Forum I notice that 'Jab' now has 'banned' below his name, does that mean he is actually banned from this Forum and if so why?

Agreed, particularly in the case of the Brigade system badges, a well know example being the Yorkshire Brigade (both silver/gilt and enameled) and this continued with the Yorkshire Volunteer enameled officers cap badge.
