special forces badges -opinions
I will shortly be selling a collection of airborne insignia that has remained in some folders I purchased from someone in the 90's and have remained in there ever since. I know very little about their authenticity, so am asking you guys to help me weed out the bad eggs.
I'll start with the wings *note In the first photo, the background colour is dark green It was in the folder marked as Rhodesian. Cheers, Gaz Last edited by Rockape; 22-09-12 at 04:51 PM. Reason: extra info |

5th wings photo, top right is a dud mate, sorry... The cap badges, the one with the pin badge backs is a dud too, as is the one to the right of it, the brassy one...
Sorry, otherwise a fair few seem decent Tom |

Thanks for the reply. The cap badge with pins was marked as Belgian. Dunno if that makes a difference?

I believe that the wings are a mix of British and Commonwealth versions. Except for the one already mentioned, and the first being Rhodesian.
Personally I like the Australian and New Zealand designations. The beret or Cap badges are what I have seen for wire Officers, WOs and worsted OR's, aa is an issued badge. Metal with wire is Belgian, metal with clutch and pins unsure but I was told that the Australians had a similar fitting, last one repro. Marc Sits back and awaits the FLAK! |

The australian badge is a different pattern, anaodised in two tones...

The first photo shows a well known fake of a Rhodesian SAS para wing. Genuine para wings here: http://www.rhodesianmilitaria.com/page12.html
The second wing is a fake of an SASR para wing. |
