Unknown Royal Fusilier (?) badge - can anyone ID please?
This badge has been in the collection for about 40 years, and I have always considered it a dud. Nonetheless it has always intrigued me.
It is a dark silverly colour, and the brass crown and rose are attached by metal prongs. The lugs are thin, long and cut at the top of the loops. The details front and rear are crisp, but the metal is thin, although it tends to spring back into shape when released The design is Royal Fusiliers, but it lacks the solid construction of Victorian era badges. Can anybody shed any light on it? Fantasy or copy? Cheers Chris Last edited by Chrisr; 09-08-14 at 06:23 AM. |

Chris,
Yours IS a good one. Its an original period badge in lovely condition (on the front) I have also seen this described as worn by officers in the Volunteer Battalions of the Lancashire Fusiliers. regards
