Default grandfather's chattels

after doing his stint in WW1 , he did his bit in WW2. the tin helmet, gas mask etc. were thrown out long ago. together with valuable objet d'arts, now, not then !

Did he work for a firm with the initials MV or VM?

I would suggest:
Metropolitan-Vickers (Wikepedia shows the firms badge)
