Royal Engineers GV - Voided Question
This thread concerns the voided GV badge only.
Can anyone tell me why some GV voided examples have a large GV cypher and others a small GV cypher? The small GV cypher is not voided. Are the small cypher badges those manufactured after WW1? Thank you.

JJ,
probably nothing more significant than a makers/die variation! Andy |

Thank you Andy.
A re-enactor asked me this question and to be honest I did not know the answer. It is important to him that he got it right. I'll tell him he can wear either and there will be no one on the badge forum pulling him up for doing so!

Sorry to have to go back to this.....but......I asked where this idea had come from regarding the small cypher......
Apparently, in Kipling/King Volume 1 which covers to the end of the Great War the photograph shows a large cypher badge, yet in volume 2 from the end of the Great War the small cypher is shown. I know this badge was worn until 1935. Does anyone have an explanation for the Hugh King photographs? Thank you.

Do you mean both 853's? Seems just makers variations to me, or even just different lighting.
