That's a knockout photo -- I love seeing pics of the final cavalrymen (of whichever nation's forces) before mechanisation. Which reminds me, I must buy the DVD of Charles Chauvel's film The Forty Thousand Horsemen. It tells the story of the attack on Beersheba in 1917, but (I think) uses personnel from the 20th Light Horse as they were in 1940.

It also reveals a nice variety of dress. The first, third and fifth men are wearing the Militia tunic introduced c.1930 with the maroon stand-up collars (the first man doesn't even have collar dogs!). The second and sixth men wear the standard AIF tunic, and the fourth is an officer in SD. A delightful photo, Mick.
