Algonquin Rifles
A rare officer's badge for the Algonquin Rifles, militia period badge, 1920-1928. The badge is toned silver plate on brass. Slider fastener as is typical of many Canadian militia period cap badges. The or's badge exists in a blackened finish as worn by rifles regiments, and it also exists in brass. The brass badge was a "de-blackened" rifles badge worn by the Algonquin Regiment until the new badge was approved and issued starting in 1931. The officers' wore the badge in silver as was done by rifles regiments.
The Algonquin Rifles changed to a line regiment with the redesignation from "Rifles" to "Regiment" in 1929. |

Great badge, Bill! Don't think I've ever seen an officer's pattern.
Lovely to see. Cheers, Adam |
