FWW MGC clothe badges to ID
Hello gents,just to satisfy my curiosity, are these cloth badges real or just someone's fantasy.
Jo In case someone wants to know,these are not mine and are not for sale or trade Said to have been worn by MGC Instructors at the Grantham MG Training Centre.First World War. British Machine Gun Corps shoulder patches as adopted for the 101st Machine Gun Company.First World War.

Hi Jo,
The MGC Instructor shoulder strap might well be original I have not seen any documentation or photos of it in use but with much WW1 Insignia there are large gaps in available research. I am not certain about the 101st MG Coy badges they do not conform exactly to the known originals but in their favour they are not similar to the copies of his particular patch. Is there any direct provenance for the badges? Regards Mark |

Hello Mark,first thanks for your comment and second, I'm told that they were part of a collection of FWW cloth badges, mainly canadians..The owner of those is wary of giving too much informations in case I should contact the seller......
