Didn't one of the banks use something like this as part of the corporate image? Could it be a cap badge for one of the security staff or similar?

That'll be Midland Bank for the eagle, although their eagle had some little trefoils or similar on the wings (I don't know about this badge & it's usage).

Wasn't Midland Bank a winged 'Griffin' Leigh? Barclays used an eagle.
I can't help with the badge Steve, it seems a bit geometric for a British military badge though.

Ah right, my mistake - I was thinking the Midlands eagle simply morphed into a more "modern" design. I should've googled.

The badge reminds me of the fat bird on the pre-euro West German Sam's with its wings spread.
