I cannot date it but do please consider its other use, that of swordsman skill-at-arms.

Strictly speaking all wartime trade and proficiency badges should have had drab highlights - in this case sword blades. Official issues of these badges with white blades did not appear until the 1950s. However the numerous badge shops that existed in wartime sold examples with white blades so unless attached to a uniform or found with a wartime group of badges it's very difficult to be certain.

The attached badge came with a set of wartime veteran's badges so is probably more representative.

Of course size matters as well.

Thanks folks, I appreciate the replies. I bought it for a WWII PTI display, so swordsmen are off my radar!
I thought it looked a bit new and doesn't glow under UV. I note in several WWII photos the blades have been 'blancoed' so white must have been the preferred look on walking out.
I much prefer your example Jon.
I'll keep hunting
cheers
Paul

As Marc says dimensions matter. From the white blades I would suggest that it is post-1960
