Default John Swan's passing

I have just received this message from John Swan's sister:

As you may have heard, John passed away peacefully at Central West Hospice on June 18th. His was a brief, but well fought battle with aggressive metastatic renal cancer and I have never been more proud of him. Being a private person, he waged his war with cancer quietly, as in keeping with many things he did.

He was a true historian and his research knew no bounds if it meant he could find out the whole story behind the man whose artifacts he possessed. As a nurse, I was often enlisted to help explain what war injuries or hospitalizations these soldiers endured after obtaining their medical records. He always wove the pieces of history together to try and create a clear picture of the past.

On behalf of myself, my Mom and family, we would like to invite you join us in a celebration on his life, Thurs., June 29th from 2 - 4 pm at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Ave. (at Richmond Rd.)

John was a member of the Forum as JohnS.

Thanks for posting David. Many many stories about John and his collecting escapades.
Another one of the fraternity has died.

A very sad loss indeed.

I can't say I knew John well but I know he will be missed greatly.

My sincere sympathies to his family.

Roy
