Badges with coloured backing
I know that regiments wear rank or proficiency badges with coloured backing. Could you help me to identify some of them ? Thank you

A difficult subject as most such badges, initially worn on battledress were unofficial and only recognised regimentally.
Red backed ones were usually worn by Royal Regiments, dark green ones by rifle regiments and light green sometimes by Light Infantry regiments. But a large number still defy positive identifications. During the 1980s the WOII's crown I wore on my heavy woolly pully whilst serving with the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers was red backed like the first of your badges so they were worn after battledress disappeared. Hope that helps. Would be interested to know if anyone can add further information. Jon |
