Default Unknown Irish title

Hello,

Can anyone please help with this item:

No. 6 Dist. / Co. Antrim brass title.
This measures 33 x 65mm.

I had wondered if this may be Orange Lodge related, as I understand they were dispersed into Districts.

Any thoughts or feedback would be most appreciated.
Many thanks,
Pat

Please note I don't collect Irish insignia so this item will be swapped in due course.

Pat,
The Orange Order No 6 District is Ballymacarratt, East Belfast.
However I think Ballymacarratt is in Co Down rather than Co Antrim.
The Ulster Special Constabulary was organised on a District and County basis. I have seen them wearing county titles but I don't remember them wearing a title with District and County.

Hello Eddie,

Many thanks for your reply and information provided.
Likewise, I have only seen county titles For Ulster S.C. which had me thinking possible Orange Order link.
Do you think this title may be either band related or possibly linked to the Young Citizens Volunteers ?
I have read that after the Ulster Division came to England for training further military lodges were established for the duration of the war and each battalion acquired its own lodge.
Any further thoughts on possible identification would be appreciated.
Even though my collecting interests lie elsewhere, its always nice to learn about when, where and whom may have worn certain insignia.

All the best,

Pat

Dave,
In Limavady I believe there was a lodge No.6 in Limavady District. The lodge was LOL No.6, not District No.6, and as you say Limavady isn't in Co. Antrim.
I have been thinking along the lines of Red Cross who wore county titles but I have not heard of them using district numbers on their titles.
