Default Royal Marines Wrens

Does anyone recall the nickname for Wrens attached to the Royal Marines in WW2? I read it somewhere many years ago, but cannot find the reference again. Doing some research and any help is appreciated.

Regards, Jeff

Jeff,

I believe they were called "Marwrens" or "MarWrens".

David.

I believe you are correct. That rings familiar. Many thanks. I'm only forty, but my brain is getting spotty.

Default Royal Marines Wrens

When the Wrens were first established during the First World War they were originally going to be called the Womens Auxiliary Naval Corps (WANC). At the last minute they changed the name to Womens Royal Naval Service (WRNS). Can't think why they changed the name!
