Default 3 Life Guards for consideration

All three have their cypher clearly cut out away from the R. Badge 1 gives me a little pause but feel cautiously optimistic on the the other two..would like to hear others thought.
thanks
Jack

The first 2 are not that well cast and not the quality that I would look for in a Household badge.

The third one is unused and does not show the wear expected from being worn by a LG trooper.

I would replace them in my collection.

The first thing I note is both the GvR are very crudely cast, as well as having a strange looking finish, the rank and file badges were usually very well die struck and tended to have blades or sliders, with a genuine OSD, they were, again, very well die cast and had blades.
The Gv1R is a very odd looking badge, you would expect an original to be die cast with lugs.
I don't like any of them, I'm afraid and certainly would not buy them as original.

The first two, with the very nibbled rims, are highly reminiscent of the examples banged out in the late 70s and 80s by a well-known producer of duds in Birmingham. He had a good line when he didn't void them, of producing "enamelled" ones. Never saw a GVIR one by him, but he did do EVIIIR ones. Don't like the GVIR one either, I'm afraid.

Thanks to everyone for their input, it is much appreciated. Many of the 1970's era duds had migrated here to the US. They are now being found in old collections here with some regularity.
Best

I don't like that very modern looking slider on the GviR. I am surprised that 'Claire' does.

Alternatively it's a mint example restruck from an original die. It's certainly not been issued. I would prefer one with a lot more service wear as the Household Cavalry were fastidious in polishing their badges.

I'm sure that will be rectified now shortly with that snippet of information

Indeed. And that GVIR is brand spanking new. I am not a subject matter expert on the Life Guards but would expect a "real" one to have lugs as well?
