Default 2 Airborne Signs, Opinions please.

These signs did not come together. However both have escaped me for a while as far as an Id, era or usage.

The top sign is green and printed and to me represented the "light bulb" non airborne unit. A different style though. Does the green backing material color represent something in particular?

Bottom Pegasus is also printed but on a light cloth.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks
Jack

My impression is that the Pegasus is a replica. I don't recognise the light bulb badge; there was an early printed British made pattern but it showed a parachutist.

Luc, Thanks for your thoughts. I cannot remember where the Pegasus patch came from at the moment.

Default The top badge

Good day Jack,

The design of the top one puts me in mind of the U.S. Navy's "Parachuteman" rating from about WWII. However, the only examples I have seen of that is yellow/gold embroidered on dark navy blue/black. All other colours I have seen are also embroidered, even if on twill material.

Hope this gives you an avenue to explore.

To me the parachute flash would seem to be a typical British printed production. Possibly for some "Free" forces in UK in WW2? NL, FR, BE, CZ etc? Mike

Thank you Ian and Mike. It does have the look of a Navy or Marine rating however these were primarily embroidered as opposed to printed. Had not thought of a "Free' forces use.
Best

After checking the examples I have in my collection, I'm amending my suggestion.

I do not think it is US Navy as the bottom of the panels between the rigging lines curve up on mine and not down as seen in the original photo.

Good day Jack,

I know it has been a year since you posted your pictures of those para badges. Don't know what made me think of this , but was looking through B&T #1 the other day and something twigged my memory.

I believe the parachute on green is the first version of the Kenyan para qual (BT110, plate 8).

Just in case you were still wondering.

Ian
