Looking at the photograph, I would have said that it is actually eighth cycle Birmingham marks for 1958-59.

In theory if it is Birmingham it should be J at the earliest Q at the latest.

Hi brought home my Loupe and it is a " Anchor - Lion - 7 " the last is deffinately a 7 no idea what that means?

Billy have a look at the Birmingham silver hallmarks, the J is canted to the right and has half a top stroke .
Ill bring my magnifying glass and glasses with me . |

Thank you, that is a very nice badge, although, I do think that generally speaking, these lack the quality that pre war and even wartime silver badges made by this manufacturer have.
As already stated, the hallmarks are eighth cycle Birmingham for 1958-59, very nice indeed, I like it. |

The "7" is in fact a "J" for 1958.
