Never seen a soldier sew all of those overseas service ribbons on to a tunic and then not add his 3 WW1 medal ribbons either......

Talking Home Guard tunic

At least you can buy this by instalments, an unusual item . . !

The devices at the top of the sleeve look very like issue arm titles with 'Home Guard' blacked out. I can only think that if it's an original alteration, it was done for camouflage.

The chevrons were not overseas chevrons in WW2 but just service chevrons which Home Guardsmen were entitled to wear for each year of war service - as were all other service personnel. Although they were an issue item they were worn at the individual's discretion.

Thanks Jon,

I queried the cloth badges with the seller and this was his reply:

Sadly I've no history for this item and I haven't seen this myself on any of my previous BD's where the titles should be though I have seen it in red on an officers SD jacket last year though again I am unsure why it was there instead of titles.

The shoulder badges look to be made of two pieces of cloth one khaki and one black, could this be an unknown method of distinguishing the unit.

Perhaps for stage or film purposes?

The end price was about 50% of what a "conventional" Home Guard b.d. blouse would have fetched ( in my opinion )
