Arrow Border Regt Helmet Plate Centre

Good day folks

I picked this up recently with a lot of other badges that included some horrible restrikes. What about this though? Is it OK?

Taking a wild assumption that it is good, what era?

Many thanks

James

Its fine and dates up to circa 1908 and possible 1914.

You will have noticed that it is a militia HPC.

Thanks Alan, I wondered about that as there were no battle honours on the cross but I've not been able to find it in Kipling & King. I have found a reference to Royal Cumberland Militia and Royal Westmoreland Militia but not been able to find an associated badge.

Thanks for the point in the right direction.

Regards

James

Found a similar hat badge sold at Bosley's in 2015 that is described as 3rd & 4th (Militia) Bns. Border Regiment OR's white metal cap badge circa1896-1908.

So mine is the HPC for those Bns.

Again thanks to Alan for pointing me in the right direction.

James

The VB HPC were identical but with the VB scrolls below.

The militia also wore a reduced size HPC which I presume was in a glengarry or FSC. From 1905 they wore peaked caps with bespoke cap badge until 1908.
