I'll answer on Paul's behalf (he's probably in the bar).

In post #1 he mentions Royal Marine Cadet GarelocHead Camp.

Thanks. Follow up question - when did 7 Inf Bde reappear in the Order of Battle - and does it have a sign? I think 7 Inf Bde has been out of circulation since 1945 when it was in 47 Inf Div - at that time a reserve formation. 7 Inf Bde served in the BEF 1939-40 as a component of 3 Inf Div. It then remained in UK for the rest of the Second World War. Mike

Mike,

7 Brigade was what was 49 brigade with its HQ at Chilwell in Nottingham. 49 Brigade merged with 7 Brigade in Feb 2015 to form 7 Infantry Brigade and HQ East.

Not sure which sign they use now as I moved out of that Brigade a while ago but am sure Paul will be able to inform us.

Ivan

7 Infantry Brigade wear the formation badge previously worn by 7 Armoured Brigade I.e. The Red Jerboa. All the signs around Brigade HQ refer to them as "The Desert Rats". At around the same time 15 (NE) Brigade became 4th Indantry Brigade - they now wear the Black Rat previously worn by 4th Armoured Brigade

I would wonder if all of these have been through the Army Dress Committee which I understand they all have to. The days of Counties wearing their own rank slides, brassards when they are no longer regulation and introducing their own badges is coming to an end.

Two things which I understand are on their way subject to ADC approval are a new ACF arm badge for all adult instructors, and a new system of rank slides for Probationary Instructors. The old PI ones are on their way out.

I know that all of those in 7 Brigade (previously 49 Brigade) have been approved by the ADC and pretty quick they have been too - most have been approved in under two weeks

Noooo, impossible.

Since when has 7 (was 49) Brigade moved that fast?

No Ivan, you misunderstand- units have submitted directly to ADC so no Brigade "speed bumps" to get in the way!

This is an interesting new rank slide for adults which they have just be trialling to replace the current PI ones, but the story is that they have decided to go for Sergeants strips on a red slide instead.
