Light Horse Saddle
Afternoon Mick
I have a L.H. Saddle marked to the 29th L.H.R. , i know this is the Port Philip L.H., and i have even held one of thier badges, so no dramas there , what i would like to know is if the Regt had a colour patch , and recently i was loaned a badge belt from WW1, for display purposes, and it has a few L.H. badges on it, one is the unofficial 7th L.H.R. Collar badge, and the 12th L.H.R. Collar (OR's i think, all bronze bandge), the other and this is where i am a bit confused, is a white metal badge which, according to the L.H.Association site is the badge for the 6th L.H.R. , but this badge has on the bottom of it "2.A..L.H.". I will hopefully be able to down load them onto the site so you can see them , and hopefully give me an answer. |

No mate - the 29th LH would not have had a colour patch.
The LH only wore them in WW1 and then from the 1920s onwards. The 29th LH was before the militia wore colour patches. Mick ps The 2ALH badge from the 1900 to 12 period is similar in design to the 1930-42 period 6th LH (NSW Mounted Rifles badge). There might be a picture of it in the Light Horse and RAAC badge thread. If not, I can probably find one to post there. Quote:
