9th CEF
A lot is up on ebay right now containing a 9th CEF badge... on examination of the reverse someone has scratched in the word COPY... As I've never handled a 9th before I'm looking for info from the forum as to why it is a copy.

Jim, sounds like the veterans badge is marked copy, not the 9 CEF badge. Regardless, the 9th doesn't look right. I don't know the seller (I always feel better when I buy from someone I know - even on epay), maybe he's a newbie seller.
You have to find a collector with a real one and examine it in hand. I doubt anyone who has a real one would post F&B images - too much ammo for the techno-fakers to use to 3D print up a couple. Not much help here Jim, sorry. Greg |

Missed the C on the Veterans badge because I was looking so hard at the 9th
Greg ... if you magnify the 9th reverse you should be able to make out the word COPY Not in love with the PEI either as it has a funny colour to it... ground dug? |

Wasn't there a mini PEI badge that was a super scarce officers badge? With the association of the other fakes I bet that all are fakes from the 80's.
For what it's worth the original die for the 9th CEF overlay is in the Loyal Edmonton Regiment museum. Cheers, Greg |

When in doubt, don't.

Genuine 9th Bn cap badge
If you want to see a genuine 9th Bn cap badge then have a look in the CEF Project page under 'Current Projects'.
